Using Your Softcut Block Secure the block firmly on a flat work surface using a bench hook or clamp. Use cutting tools at a shallow angle, approximately 45 degrees, to the surface for clean, controlled cuts. Work from the centre outward to avoid slips. Apply even pressure; the soft material responds well to deliberate, measured strokes rather than force. Once carving is complete, ink the raised surface with a roller or brush, then press paper firmly onto the inked block. Use a baren or wooden spoon to apply consistent pressure across the back, working from the centre outward. Peel the paper back slowly and evenly to reveal your print.

Storage & Care Store blocks flat in a cool, dry place away from direct heat or sunlight. Clean tools immediately after use with warm water and soap. The material can be re-carved if needed — simply sand the surface lightly to remove ink residue and begin a new design on the same side or flip to use the reverse.
