Artist Tips & Care

• Sharpening: Use a manual handheld sharpener or a craft knife. Avoid electric sharpeners, as the brittle charcoal core can snap under high speed.

• Surface Selection: Best results are achieved on medium to heavy-tooth papers (like Canson Mi-Teintes or Strathmore Toned).

• Layering: Apply this pencil last. Putting graphite or wax-based media over the white chalk can cause "muddying."

• Erasing: Use a kneaded eraser for lifting highlights or a battery-powered eraser for crisp, clean edges.

• Protection: Always apply a spray fixative to your finished work to prevent smudging, as the chalky pigment does not contain a binder.
